Here's the Scoop...

I am thrilled to be part of the opening of New Manchester High School!   Though there will be lots of challenges, I expect great things to happen in this school. Coming here from Factory Shoals Middle School, I can't wait to see many familiar faces among the students, and I am anxious to get to know all the students coming in from the other schools too.

I am originally from Illinois and received my bachelor's degree in English/Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  During my 21 years in the classroom, I taught English, oral communications, world history, sociology, drama, and journalism .

I earned my master's degree in Library Science and Informational Technology from the University of Central Arkansas and moved into the media center nine years ago.  In 2005 I earned National Board Certification in Library Media which requires candidates to truly evaluate their work as a teacher and as a librarian.  It was, hands down, the most valuable professional development I have ever experienced.

My goal at New Manchester is to provide the resources needed by students and teachers to enable them to succeed. I believe the media center should be an integral part of the school, valuable to students and teachers. I also want to encourage reading and using technology as an integrated part of learning. Meggan Ford and I hope to entice students to compete with a high school reading bowl team. The library media center invites students, teachers, and parents to come visit. Everyone is welcome!
