Principal's Corner

Welcome Back!

July 31, 2012

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to year two for New Manchester High School! All faculty and staff members are looking forward to another energized year as we continue to build a strong culture of academic achievement coupled with an array of extracurricular opportunities. New Manchester expects to serve close to 1,600 hundred students, and it is our wish that each student be successful in all aspects of school life. Encourage your student to take school seriously in terms of classwork and to participate in an extracurricular choice where he/she can make a difference. When we work as a team of parents, students, and teachers, all things are possible!

Our theme for the 2012-2013 school year will be “Relationships and Rigor,” wherein all students will be exposed to challenging coursework with an expectation that they will rise to the challenge. It is also our belief that if teachers are to really support students, they must know those students as individuals. The new Common Core Georgia Performance Standards that are being introduced in schools this year will take classroom rigor to a new level making it more important than ever that teachers know the strengths and weaknesses of each student as they provide instruction. Our students will need to work hard, and I encourage parents to talk to them daily about what they are learning.

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another exciting school year, and I thank you once again for the opportunity to work with your family. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone at 770-651-2700 or via email at constance.craft@douglas.k12.ga.us.

Sincerely,

Constance D. Craft
