Angelo R. Buchanan was born in Brinkley, Arkansas.  She lived with her loving and caring grandparents, who are both now deceased. She attended public schools in Cotton Plant, Arkansas and graduated Cotton Plant High in May, 1984 at age 17. She received a double promotion from the fourth grade to sixth grade. While attending high school, she played Jr. Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball and participated in Track and Field. August, 1984, she attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff; where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Liberal-Arts. After graduating from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, she relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. She is a wife of twenty-four years with two daughters, ages twenty-five and twenty. She also has a five year old grandson (The Apple of her Eye).

She started her career in education for St. Louis Public Schools as a Teacher’s Assistant II in 1990. While working as a Teacher’s Assistant II and Continuing Substitute Teacher in Special Education, Dr. Buchanan completed her degree in Secondary English Education. She taught 9th-12th English at Beaumont High School in St. Louis city for seven years. For five years, while working at Beaumont High School, she also worked as an intern for Assistant Principal, Building Testing Coordinator, Dual Enrollment Administrator, and Co-Senior Sponsor. May, 2007, Angelo Buchanan graduated with a Master’s of Educational Administration from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. May, 2015, she completed her doctorate degree in Educational Administration at Lindenwood University.  

Currently, Dr. Buchanan works as a Tenth Grade and American Literature teacher at New Manchester High School in Douglas County, Douglasville Georgia. Her teaching philosophy is “Students do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  She displays her compassion for teaching children by developing relationships with each of her students which demonstrate how much she cares about them individually. She works very hard to get her students to understand that they must not only be successful in the classroom, but outside of the classroom. She also enjoys assisting students with their post-secondary endeavors and/or goals which will shape them into becoming well-rounded productive citizens in their communities. Her personal philosophy is “Patience, Power, and Perseverance equals Success.”
