Hello! My name is Whitney Lester and I am a native to Douglas County. I am a product of the Douglas County School System where I attended Chapel Hill Elementary School, Chestnut Log Middle and graduated from Douglas County High School in 1996. This will be my 1st year here at NMHS.  I received my B.S. in Sociology in May 2001 from the University of West Georgia. After working in the business world for a while I decided to pursue a career in education. I received my Business Education teaching certificate in December 2003. After completing my student teaching at Chapel Hill I taught one year at Yeager Middle School, 11 years at Chapel Hill High School.

I currently am the Work-Based Learning Coordinator and Department Chair of the CTAE Department.  Besides teaching, I enjoy raising my eight year old twins (Blakely & Drew) and my 6 month old Piper with my husband, Phillip, as well as, scrapbooking and crafting. We are active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville.

I love teaching. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe and invites sharing of ideas. For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I feel there is a need for compassionate, strong, and dedicated individuals who are excited about working with children. In our competitive society it is important for students to not only receive a good, solid education, but to work with someone who is aware of their individual needs. I am such a person and will always strive to be the best educator that I can be.
